Healthy Tips for Diabetics: Cheese pizza

Yield: 6 servings


1 pizza dough, 11½ inches

1 cup pizza sauce

2 tablespoons Parmesan cheese, grated

1 1/3 cups part-skim (1/3 less fat) mozzarella cheese, shredded

1/2 teaspoon crushed dried oregano

1/2 teaspoon crushed dried basil

Method of Preparation:

1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Place the dough on an ungreased 12-inch nonstick pizza pan.

2. To assemble the pizza, spread the pizza sauce over the dough, leaving a one-inch border around the rim. Sprinkle with parmesan cheese and half of the mozzarella. Sprinkle evenly with oregano and basil. Top with remaining mozzarella.

3. Bake for 13-15 minutes, until the crust is crisp and the cheese is melted and browned. Cut into six wedges.
