Consumer Alert: BBB warns against ordering from 'Providence-based' retailer
The Better Business Bureau Serving Eastern MA, ME, RI & VT is warning consumers to think twice before placing an order with online retailer Max Novelty.
The BBB has received dozens of complaints and negative reviews about a company, which claims to operate out of Providence.
The complaints range from long shipping delays, to poor customer service. In some reviews, customers claim they’re still waiting on delivery.
Now, the BBB is reminding consumers to research online retailers before placing an order.
It's also important to know your rights as a consumer.
Federal law requires that orders made by mail, phone or online be shipped by the date promised. If no delivery time was stated, the order must arrive within 30 days. If you don't have the product within that 30-day window, you have the right to cancel the order and demand a refund.
NBC 10 News stopped by the company's supposed address in Providence on Tuesday. Building management said Max Novelty is not and has never been a tenant.
The BBB has attempted to contact the company for over a month. So far, the agency has not received a response.
NBC 10’s request for a response has also gone unanswered.
