Ethics Commission to probe lawmaker's beach bid
A Rhode Island state representative at the center of an NBC 10 I-Team investigation into questionable beach concession contracts is formally the subject of a state ethics commission investigation.
The commission voted 6 to 0 on Tuesday to proceed with an investigation.
A complaint was filed against Rep. Peter Palumbo in the wake of a series of I-Team stories showing the lawmaker had originally won three state beach concession contracts before backing out.
The runner-up and eventual bid winner was his friend David Caprio who resigned his post as Rhode Island Democratic Party chairman.
The Rhode Island State Police are investigating.
