Barrington dog featured in Talbots holiday ads
BARRINGTON, R.I. (WJAR) —
It was at a Fourth of July party in Barrington this summer when Karin Dreier, by chance, met a lady that was looking for a golden retriever to feature in the upcoming Talbots holiday advertising campaign.
“Treats! Treats do the trick,” Dreier told NBC 10 News.
Dreier has two retrievers, including Bear, a seven-year-old, and Tucker, who is now one-year-and-eight-months old.
Through that serendipity, both dogs got gigs.
While Bear got a small cameo in a CVS insert, Tucker hit the jackpot. He landed the cover of Talbots Holiday Catalogue.
When Dreier got the word that Tucker was chosen, she was thrilled.
“Oh excitement, complete excitement! I was trying to train him as best I could, but puppies and goldens have a mind of their own.”
Dreier had no idea how big it was going to be when she brought Tucker for the two-day shoot in August, with the first taking place at the Scituate Lighthouse in Massachusetts, and the second on a farm in Hingham,
Famous models such as Niki Taylor, Mini Anden, and Ubah Hassan, who’ve been featured in Victoria's Secret, as well as Sports Illustrated swimsuit magazine issues, were on set.
The two-day shoot for the holiday ads went so well -- with the treats -- that there's talk of using Tucker for another set of ads.
“I'm hoping for more shoots. She said there's going to be more down the road,” Dreier said.
Tucker doesn't really know the importance of his new found fame and wealth. All he really understands are treats and affection, and to get him to hold that pose.
What would he say if he could talk?
“‘Give me a cookie, please. Give me a ball, I want to go play,’” quipped Dreier. “It' hasn't gone to his head, but we have been hiding out from the paparazzi.”
What's on the horizon? Maybe getting a high powered agent to negotiate the next contract.
