3 people arrested on weapons charges, possession of armor-piercing bullets
Three people were arrested on weapons charges after police found a stolen gun, armor-piercing bullets and a bulletproof vest during a traffic stop in Warwick, according to authorities.
Rhode Island State Police on Friday said Jerome Joseph, 48, of Brockton, Figaro Voguel, 42, of Hyde Park, and Anaika Claudia-Nicole Whyles, 27, of Lewiston, Maine.
Authorities said they are all facing the following charges:
- License or permit required for carrying a pistol
- Possession of a stolen firearm
- Possession of armor-piercing bullets
Joseph also was charged with giving false documents to an agent or public official.
Police said a trooper stopped their car on East Avenue after it was being driven erratically on Interstate 95 North and on Route 113.
“During the investigation, the trooper recovered a handgun that was previously reported stolen, as well as the illegal ammunition and bulletproof vest,” police said.
The suspects were held overnight at the Adult Correctional Institutions, pending arraignment.
