Foster woman, 80, killed in crash on Route 6

Rhode Island State Police said an 80-year-old Foster woman was killed Friday in a two-car crash on Route 6.

Police said the woman's car collided with a roll-off truck (with no container attached) near 157 Danielson Pike at about 2:10 p.m.

Sylvia Johnson, 80, was pronounced dead at Rhode Island Hospital.

State police said the truck driver went to Rhode Island Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. His name was not released.

Route 6 was closed in both directions near the scene for about two hours. State police said traffic was detoured until all travel lanes reopened at about 4:15 p.m.
