Boat found in Warwick with blood, broken glass inside
WARWICK, R.I. (WJAR) —
A boat was found running near a marina in Warwick with blood and broken glass inside early Tuesday morning, authorities told NBC 10 News.
But there was no one aboard the boat.
Now, authorities are trying to figure out whose blood was on the vessel, as well as how it got there.
Lt. Steve Criscione of the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management said Warwick police reported that a boat at Brewer’s Marina became tangled with another boat around 3 a.m.
“It had hull damage to it. Apparently, it had been in a recent accident. And there was blood on the deck,” Criscione said. “There were no occupants on the vessel.”
While environmental police are investigating it as a boat accident, they are also looking into the possibility that the boat was stolen, as the owner was in New Hampshire when the incident happened and told police he didn't lend his boat to anyone.
“Boat accidents are not uncommon,” Criscione said. “To have nobody on the vessel when we arrived is uncommon. Possibly, somebody had taken the boat without the owner's permission. That is something we're looking at.”
Investigators the said the boat is from Brewers marina in Barrington.
