Build-A-Bear closes long lines, cites safety concerns
Build-A-Bear’s pay your age promotion ended suddenly as an “unprecedented response” caused safety concerns said the company on Thursday.
Long lines formed nationwide as the promise of cuddly bears at a single-digit price prompted families with young children to join the large crowd.
Early in the morning, the company said in a post that the unprecedented response forced them to limit the lines due to safety concerns.
“Local authorities are requiring us to limit the lines and large crowds,” said the company in a social media post.
A couple of hours later they updated their post saying that they had closed all lines in the U.S. and in Canada.
The company said they understood some guests would be disappointed.
In Providence, Providence Place Mall also posted on social media that they had closed the lines “Due to the overwhelming response.”
They asked for customers to call Build-A-Bear Workshop directly.
