Dangerous day on the tracks; two people hit by train in separate incidents
Providence, R.I. —
A dangerous day on the train tracks Saturday as authorities investigate two separate incidents involving a person being struck by a train.
The first incident happened Saturday morning after 6 a.m.
Providence police say a 26-year-old male was struck by a slow-moving Amtrak train while on the tracks near RICOM way near the 6/10 connector.
That person is currently in critically condition at Rhode Island Hospital but is expected to survive.
Then around noon time in Pawtucket, authorities received a call for another person struck by a train in the area of the Conant Street bridge.
Police along with fire personnel were on scene where one person was transported to the hospital.
There was no immediate information on the condition of that person or why they were near the tracks.
