Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School interim Principal Dr. Jeanne Bonneau proved she is a good sport, as students duct-taped her to a wall Monday.

“I’m just hanging around,” Bonneau laughed.

Student Peyton Maccarone organized the fundraiser as a way to pay it forward to Hasbro Children’s Hospital.

“When I was in eighth grade, my sister had severe gastritis. She was transported to Hasbro,” Maccarone said. “I really got to see how Hasbro can really impact someone and I wanted to give back to that.”

Around $540 will go towards buying toys for patients.

Students and staff spent the week selling strips: $1 for one strip, $5 for 7.

Bonneau said she didn’t hesitate when Maccarone approached her about the fundraiser.

“I just said ‘alright’ and didn’t think too much about it,” she said.

Dozens of students participated, taking turns securing their principal in place and laughing as all but her feet, fingers and head became covered in tape.

“It’s fun,” Aaron Andrade said. “It’s very entertaining. I’m having a good time.”

After about two hours, students removed the tape and Bonneau was free. She said she was proud of her students for raising money for a good cause.

Maccarone appreciated her principal’s willingness to help out.

“It was definitely weird at first. I felt like she was going to get really mad, then she was all for it,” Maccarone said. “It made the bond between her and her students way stronger.”
