Five boaters had to be rescued from a sinking pleasure craft Sunday morning.

Isaac Perry, the Marion harbormaster, told NBC 10 his office was notified initially around 5:45 a.m. that a boat had capsized in an area between Long Beach in Wareham and Bird Island.

Perry's crew arrived to find the boaters standing on the deck of a sinking 23-foot boat.

The group had left Wareham when the boat hit some rocks and started taking on water.

The boat was sinking in about 3 feet of water.

Perry said all the boaters were OK, except for some minor scrapes.
