Funeral arrangements for an East Providence firefighter who died suddenly have been scheduled.

A wake for Scott Grace will be held May 15 from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Perry McStay Funeral Home on Pawtucket Avenue, according to the Rhode Island Association of Firefighters.

“There will be a firefighter walk through at 2:00 p.m.,” the Association noted on social media.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. at St. Martha's Church, which is also located on Pawtucket Avenue, on May 16.

The East Providence Fire Department told NBC 10 News on Wednesday that Grace passed away unexpectedly.

While authorities said he did not die in the line of duty, they added that they do not know his cause of death.

The firefighters union also posted information about Grace’s death on Facebook on Wednesday around 8 p.m.

“We are deeply saddened by the untimely and unexpected passing of one of our very own members today, Scott Grace,” the union noted. “Please keep his family, and the Local-850 family, in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”

The union later posted a photo in honor of Grace, with his name scrawled over a firefighter's badge.

The union went on to ask the media and the public “to respect his family's privacy in the difficult upcoming days.”

"We are sincerely appreciative of of all the kind words, prayers, and thoughts expressed to us during this difficult time," they said.
