Goodell clown face inspires specialty cocktail made with KEEL vodka
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (WJAR) —
Local companies are jumping on the bandwagon to take advantage of the popularity of the Roger Goodell clown face design that has been released on towels and T-shirts.
The likeness has been on billboards, cupcakes, and now a specialty cocktail is inspired by it.
Rhode Island company KEEL vodka teamed up with Davio's restaurant at Patriot Place to develop the "Dirty Goodell."
Former Patriots lineman, Matt Light, is part owner of the beverage company.
“The commissioner hasn’t been back to Foxborough in quite some time," Light said. "With respect to the relationship the people have with him in the New England area -- it’s been awkward.”
Gourmet bakery Cupcake Charlie’s at Patriot Place is also getting in the act. It offered cupcakes with the same image on top.
“It’s been crazy," said manager Katie Miranda of the demand for them. "I’ve had crazy lines since we opened. I’ve had people scooping them up. I’m lucky I have some in the case right now.”
Light knows that all this hype surrounding the commissioner is extra fuel for the rabbid New England fan base.
“He has to come to this game, right? This is the kickoff to the NFL season," said Light. "It’s the most important aspect of the 2017 NFL season so it’s going to be really interesting.”
