Police: Horses killed in Middleborough crash
MIDDLEBOROUGH, Mass. (WJAR) —
Two horses that escaped from a property in Middleborough were killed Thursday in a crash, according to authorities.
Police said the crash occurred on Vernon Street just before 6 p.m.
Authorities said the driver, a 58-year-old man from Bridgewater, initially fled the scene because he had two small children with him. However, he later returned and spoke to officials.
"Witnesses reported the vehicle was not speeding at the time of the crash," police said.
Animal Control, along with a veterinarian, euthanized both horses at the scene.
No criminal charges are pending, according to authorities.
