Local food manufacturer opens new facility in Quonset
A local food company who makes products to feed malnourished children across the globe has opened a brand new facility in Quonset.
Providence-based Edesia cut the ribbon on its new 85,000 square foot facility with the help of Governor Gina Raimondo and the state's congressional delegation.
The company was founded in 2009 and with the goal of making peanut-based products like butters which are nutritionally dense and easily shipped to feed needy children.
The new site offers more options and flexibility when it comes to transporting product and will help double its production.
Since its inception, Edesia has shipped millions of meal packets to over 50 countries.
