Man arrested in fatal Fall River hit-and-run
FALL RIVER, Mass. (WJAR) —
A man was killed in a Fall River hit-and-run Thursday morning.
The Bristol County District Attorney's Office said Christopher P. Mills, 29, of Taunton, died as a result of the crash.
Authorities later said 37-year-old Irvin Dominguez-Cruz, who left the scene, was arrested in connection to the crash. He is facing multiple charges, including unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, motor vehicle homicide by means of negligent operation, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and failure to yield to an oncoming vehicle.
A box truck and a motorcycle driven by Mills collided in the area of 2345 Highland Avenue around 6 a.m., according to police.
When crews arrived, they reported Mills to have been severely injured, said officials.
Mills was taken to Rhode Island Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
According to the DA's office, Mills appeared to be traveling north on Highland Avenue when the southern traveling box truck turned on Courtney Street. The motorcycle tried to stop say police, leaving a 25 to 30-yard skid mark as he struck the passenger side of the box truck.
An investigation is still on going, police said.
Meanwhile, Dominguez-Cruz, who was not injured in the crash, will be arraigned Friday morning in Fall River District Court.
