Police confirm Johnston man's body was found in pond
JOHNSTON, R.I. (WJAR) —
Cranston police on Monday confirmed that a body pulled from Spectacle Pond was that of a Johnston man who was reported missing a week ago.
The body of 69-year-old Kenneth Stedman was found in the pond on Saturday.
Cranston police said there was no evidence of foul play and that the cause of death was declared as a drowning.
A Facebook post by East Providence police on Sunday indicated that Stedman was found dead.
"The Johnston Police Department would like to offer our condolences to the family & friends of Kenneth Stedman. We would also like to thank the public for their assistance in locating him," the post said.
Stedman was reported missing on Feb. 11.
