New study breaks down economic impact of Quonset Business Park
PROVIDENCE, R.I. —
Gov. Gina Raimondo and state lawmakers were on hand to discuss a newly published study that states the Quonset Business Park has brought billions of dollars in revenue to Rhode Island.
According to the study published by Bryant University, the Quonset Business Park generated $2.85 billion to Rhode Island’s economy in 2015.
Currently, 200 companies call the former naval air station and construction battalion home, employing 11,000 full-time and part-time workers.
Projections published in the study state 16,000 will be employed at Quonset by 2030.
The Bryant study comes just weeks before voter’s head to the polls in November.
One of the questions on the ballot would be a new $70 million bond, $50 million of which would be headed to Quonset for further development.
