Overturned kayak in water in Charlestown leads to two hour search
Charlestown, R.I. —
A kayak found in the water in Charlestown leads to a two-hour search for a possible victim.
Charlestown Rescue Marine units along with the United States Coast Guard Station Point Judith and Charlestown Harbormaster were dispatched to the waterfront in the area of 706 Charlestown Beach Road Friday for reports of an overturned Kayak.
First arriving marine units located an unmanned overturned kayak partially submerged. The kayak was removed from the water and Coast Guard coordinated an area search that lasted for approximately two hours.
There were no reports of overdue or missing persons and the search was discontinued according to Charlestown Police.
Charlestown Harbormaster brought the kayak ashore and DEM Environmental Police were notified.
