Pedestrian struck, killed in Warwick
WARWICK, R.I. (WJAR) —
An 80-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed by a minivan in Warwick Wednesday night, according to authorities.
The Warwick Fire Department told NBC 10 News that the unidentified man was hit on Warwick Avenue near Fourth Avenue while he was apparently crossing the road around 8:30 p.m.
When authorities arrived at the scene, they found the man on the sidewalk and immediately started CPR.
The man, who suffered multiple trauma wounds, later died at Rhode Island Hospital.
Police said a 38-year-old man from Portsmouth was driving the minivan, adding that he stopped at the scene. Authorities said impaired or distracted driving do not appear to be factors at this time.
The pedestrian’s name is being withheld pending family notification, according to authorities.
