PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WJAR) —
The Pawtucket Police Department is asking the public to help them track down a driver who has been accused of hitting a family of four and fleeing the scene Thursday morning.
Authorities said they received a call that two adults, along with their children, including a 4-year-old and a 3-year-old, were struck on Weeden Street around 5 a.m.
Three of them suffered minor injuries, said police, with all of them taken to Rhode Island Hospital for evaluation.
"The victims stated that the striking vehicle, described as a White Dodge Caravan with RI plates, stopped after striking them," according to police. "The driver, a Hispanic male approximately 6 (feet) tall, got out of the vehicle and retrieved the passenger side mirror that had been knocked off. The victim yelled to the driver to call 911. He said something to her in Spanish and got back into his vehicle and drove off."
