Providence man arrested for DUI that caused roll-over on I-95 South
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WJAR) —
Rhode Island State Police say one man was arrested Thursday after his car crashed into another vehicle on I-95 South in Providence
Officials say 28-year old, Thomas Donaldson faces multiple charges including with driving under the influence and refusal to submit a chemical test.
Rhode Island State Police along with Providence Police responded to the scene of a double roll-over in Providence just after 2pm Thursday afternoon.
Donaldson was driving south on Interstate 95 near the Providence Public Safety Complex when he abruptly changed lanes, lost control and hit another driver. His car landed on an embankment off the highway.
The impact sent a second car off road. The vehicle was flipped and landed on its roof as a result of the impact.
Investigators say the victim was taken to Rhode Island Hospital with serious injuries.
Donaldson was ejected from his car and is also being treated at a local hospital.
The crash remains under investigation.
