Police charge 2 in stabbing at Warwick convenience store
WARWICK, R.I. (WJAR) —
Warwick police said Tuesday that they've charged two people in the stabbing of a 20-year-old man at a convenience store.
Police said Kristian Fonseca, 21, of Warwick, was charged with charged with assault with the intent to commit a felony, violation of a no contact order and an outstanding warrant. Jasmine Brown, 18, of Warwick was charged with aiding and abetting and simple assault and battery.
Police said Fonseca and Brown confronted a 20-year-old man whom they knew at Conimicut Variety on West Shore Road on Monday.
The victim was stabbed multiple times in the head and neck. He was in serious condition at Rhode Island Hospital.
Police said a witness recognized Fonseca and that the assailants had a baby with them and fled on foot. Officers later tracked Fonseca and Brown to a house on Hawley Avenue, where they also found evidence of the stabbing.
Police also said Brown had an active no contact order against Fonseca based on a previous domestic violence crime committed against her by Fonseca.
Brown was arraigned at the police station and released. Fonseca was awaiting arraignment.
