Police: Man steals donation jar from Cranston library

The Cranston Police Department is asking the public to help the identify a man who stole a donation jar from an area library.

Authorities posted three photos of the man on Facebook Friday, noting that he was seen taking the jar, which was filled with $175, from the Cranston Auburn Library on Pontiac Avenue on Sept. 20 just after 10:30 a.m.

Police said the man, who was wearing a black hat, with a blue Dickies jacket, gray shirt and blue jeans, fled the scene in an unknown direction.

Police said the man is white. He had facial hair in a style that is often described as a chin strap.
