Police: Thief snatches woman’s purse outside market

The Fall River Police Department is asking the public to help them identify a man who stole a woman’s purse as she was loading groceries into her car outside a market.

Authorities said they responded to the PriceRite Marketplace at 866 Pleasant St. Monday around 3:30 p.m.

The woman told police a man grabbed her purse out of the shopping carriage and ran away.

“The victim gave chase but was unable to catch the culprit,” according to authorities, who added that the woman said the man had been watching her while she was shopping.

Police said the purse contained cash, identification cards, as well as a Metro PCS cell phone.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic man who is about 5 feet 9 inches tall to 6 feet tall. He was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt and black pants, and had a tear drop or star tattoo near his eye.
