Power outage impacts parts of southern New England
About 10,000 homes were without power in Bristol County area Friday afternoon.
David Graves of National Grid told NBC 10 News at 4:30 p.m. that they lost power supply to a substation.
Just before 5:30 p.m., National Grid sais a tree fell on a transmission line in Cumberland, causing the outage.
While the tree has been removed and crews are working on fixing the issue, they are not sure when power will be fully restored.
As of 10:30 p.m., at least 50 people were still without power.
Attleboro and Seekonk appear to be taking the brunt of the outages, according to National Grid.
Seekonk police addressed the outage, which they said “is widespread across Southeastern MA.”
“Please do not call dispatch to ask about the outage,” authorities advised on social media. “We have other emergencies going on that are taking priority.”
