Rhode Island celebrates ‘National Drive Electric Week’

The National Drive Electric Week was celebrated in Cranston on Saturday in Garden City for community members to learn more about the advances and environmental benefits of electric vehicle technologies.

The Rhode Island Office of Energy Resources, The Department of Environmental Management and several other partners hosted the event in hopes of showing Rhode Islanders the benefits of owning an electric vehicle.

The event drew attention from locals with an electric vehicle show, learning sessions, raffle events and a ‘Ride and Drive’ event sponsored by local BMW, Ford, Chevrolet and Volkswagen dealers.

The event proudly stood as a ‘green event’; the electricity that was used at the Saturday celebration was matched with clean New England wind power.
