Search and rescue team from Mass. deploys to Texas
The Massachusetts Search and Rescue Task Force deployed to Texas on Sunday with a nearly 20-member contingent.
Two helicopters and a C-144 aircraft were sent to help rescue people from their homes, leaving everything they have behind to escape life-threatening levels of water.
Nineteen Coast Guard members deployed from Air Station Cape Cod, helping with search and recovery efforts.
Overnight, 2,000 rescues were made, saving people from levels of more than 5 feet of rain.
The Massachusetts Search and Rescue Rask Force is ready to live in the destruction for weeks, risking their lives to save others.
"Think of that as your home. That's why we do what we do. That could be us, that could be our loved one. We want to get their and help people," said Cmdr. Peter Evonuk of Air Station Cape Cod.
