Voters in Seekonk approved a Proposition 2 1/2 override for a new public safety radio system.

A special election was held Tuesday specifically on a bond approval for the public radio safety project to replace the radio system used by the town's emergency officials.

The radio system would cost about $3 million and would be paid for by a property tax increase.

The Sun Chronicle reported that the debt exclusion was approved in a vote of 471-288.
