Storm electrical damage: what's your responsibility?

This graphic posted on the National Grid Facebook page shows areas of your home's electrical system that you own (in black), and the components that are the responsibility of National Grid (in blue).

If a storm damages electrical equipment in or near your home, you might be responsible for some of those repairs.

National Grid released a graphic showing which components those are.

In the image above, the items in blue -- poles, outside electrical service wires and connections, and the glass electric meter -- are the responsibility of the power company.

Inside your house -- the weatherhead, the service bracket, drip loop and entrance cable -- if something happens to those parts, you'll need to call an electrician yourself.
