Rhode Island State Police said Wednesday that they arrested a West Warwick man on child pornography charges while he was on probation in a previous case.

David Hamlin was charged with possession and transfer of child pornography. His arraignment was pending in Kent County District Court.

State police said Hamlin, 36, was previously arrested in 2016 for transfer of child pornography. He pleaded no contest to an amended charge of access to computer for fraudulent purposes.

Hamlin was on probation in that case when he was arrested again Tuesday and later arraigned in Kent County District Court.

Members of the Rhode Island State Police Internet Crimes Against Children task force were alerted to Hamlin's computer's IP address by an Internet chat room on suspicion of transmitting child porn.

While executing a search warrant at his second-floor apartment at a home on Curson Street, police said they seized electronic devices that belonged to him and found photographs of two young girls, as well as children's clothing.

Neighbors told NBC 10 News they're troubled by the news. They said that he just moved in, adding that they don't know him too much.

Residents also said while there are children that live in the neighborhood, they have not seen Hamlin have any contact with them.

State police said more charges could be pending against Hamlin.
