Rhode Island will now have two artists performing in the live playoff rounds on NBC’s “The Voice” singing competition.

Coach Gwen Stefani has chosen West Warwick rocker Johnny Gates as the “Comeback Artist” for her team. Gates was eliminated on April 3, during the show’s Knockout Round. He is scheduled to perform Tuesday.

"I feel like it's kind of meant to be. I want to make Gwen proud that she gave me that second chance so I feel determined, but excited too," Gates told NBC 10 News.

Troy Ramey, who graduated from Newport’s Rogers High School, will also perform Tuesday. Ramey survived the Knockout Round to remain on Team Gwen.

"It definitely is an extra level of pressure knowing that it's going to be live, but it's also something I'm looking forward to because I've worked my whole life to have a moment like this,"

The Live Playoff Round of “The Voice” airs from 8:00 to 10:00 PM Monday and Tuesday nights on NBC 10, with 24 contestants performing.

Only 12 will move forward to the live “Top Rounds”. Viewers will select two artists from each team with an “Instant Save”, and each coach can save one more artist.

The winner of “The Voice” will be chosen in a two-night finale on May 22 and 23.
