Woman arrested, accused of shooting birds while drunk
A Connecticut woman was arrested and accused of shooting birds in her yard.
Police on Thursday said 49-year-old Melinda Bennett, of Ledyard, is facing multiple charges, including reckless endangerment, as well as cruelty to animals.
A day prior, Bennett admitted to authorities that she had been shooting the birds off her birdfeeders every day.
Authorities said they found her “in her garage, intoxicated, with a pellet rifle.”
“Officers observed fresh blood and feathers on the garage floor,” police noted.
Bennett, who was processed and later released on a $500 non-surety bond, is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 28.
