A Coventry woman was in court on Monday afternoon after she was arrested for driving under the influence with a 7-year-old child in the back seat.

Kelsie Teribury, 25, faced a judge after being arrested and charged with DUI, driving on a suspended license, third offense, and obstructing an officer.

Coventry police were called to a Taco Bell restaurant on Tiogue Avenue at about 1 a.m. Saturday after receiving reports that a woman in line for the drive-thru window seemed intoxicated.

Officers were able to stop Teribury in the parking lot where she originally told them her name was Kayla Teribury. After further investigation, it was discovered her real name was Kelsie.

The state Department of Children, Youth and Families was notified and a family member came to pick up the child.

Teribury was released on personal recognizance because she had "important business to attend to in Connecticut," where she is set to testify in a capital offense.

The judge was clear about another condition of her release.

"Young lady, conditions are, you are not to drive," the judge said. "Sober or not. I don't care. You will not drive from now until you come back into this court."

She is due back in court on July 31 for a pretrial hearing.
