Woman accused of hitting pedestrian on I-95 charged with DUI
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WJAR) —
A woman was struck by a car and seriously injured early Sunday morning on Interstate 95 in Providence.
Rhode Island State Police said the victim was standing beside her car in the breakdown lane of I-95 south near Eddy Street at about 2:45 a.m.
According to police, it appears the driver of the vehicle lost control and went into the breakdown lane, striking the victim.
The victim was taken to Rhode Island Hospital. The driver of the vehicle was also taken to Rhode Island Hospital with minor injuries
State police charged 30-year old Yiranis Liz with driving under the influence, resulting in injury.
She was also cited for refusing a chemical test.
