Twin sisters accused of vandalizing Newport's famed Cliff Walk were released on their own recognizance Wednesday after a hearing.

Police said the women surrendered after investigators released photos of the suspects allegedly spray-painting graffiti on the Cliff Walk during the last weekend of November.

Jocelyn Senecal and Jenna Senecal, both 22, are from East Providence.

They were charged with misdemeanors and pleaded not guilty in court.

The photos of the twins ended up on social media, with users posting negative comments about the women.

"I was wrong for my actions, but there was never a need for any harassment or the exploitation of a degrading image," Jocelyn wrote in an email to NBC 10 News.

Bail was set at $1,000 each and the sisters are scheduled to be back in court on January 17.
