The growing popularity of cassette tapes is creating a serious tape shortage. The Wall Street Journal says one company, National Audio, has less than a year's supply of tape left. Big bands like Metallica, Smashing Pumpkins and Pearl Jam are requesting cassettes due to their sound and flexibility.

Sprint and T-Mobile have called off merger plans. That means there will not be a stronger competitor to Verizon and AT&T. The people who run both companies reportedly couldn't agree on who would run the combined business.

The job market is bouncing back, but there is one thing still missing: bigger paychecks. The government said that average hourly earnings -- another way of saying wages -- rose 2.4 percent over the past 12 months.
