60 Year Anniversary of Hurricane Carol
JAMESTOWN, R.I. —
Sunday, August 31, 2014 marks the 60-year anniversary of Hurricane Carol.
Hurricane Carol swept through Rhode Island with wind gusts up to 105 MPH, also flooding areas of Providence with 12 feet of water and over 14 feet in Narragansett Bay. Over 600 homes and almost 100 buildings were lost as a result of the hurricane.
