Mass. voters choose mayors, city officials Tuesday
Voters in Bristol County, Massachusetts, went to the polls Tuesday for municipal elections.
Mayors were elected in Attleboro, Fall River, New Bedford and Taunton.
Attleboro Mayor Kevin Dumas was unseated, as his challenger, state Rep. Paul Heroux defeated the incumbent, as the Board of Elections told NBC 10 News that Heroux earned 5,064 votes, while Dumas garnered 4,304 votes.
Priorities among the two candidates included school funding and downtown business progress.
Attleboro voters also chose City Council and School Committee members.
Mayor Jasiel Correia, who ran for a second term in Fall River, also won. He faced City Council Vice President Linda Pereira. Correia is the youngest mayor in Fall River.
City Council and School Committee races were also on the ballot.
New Bedford Mayor Jon Mitchell will be in for a fourth term in office, as he beat his challenger, veteran New Bedford police officer Charlie Perry.
Mayor Thomas Hoye Jr. ran unopposed for a fourth two-year term in Taunton.
