Gov. Lincoln Chafee said Friday he's learned of waste and fraudin the state's Medicaid system, and that the fraud involves food stamps too.
Chafee told NBC 10 during a taping of "10 NewsConference" that he does not intend to tell the public about what he'sfound and instead working on closing the gaps that allow cheating.
Chafee said his administration is in possession of a reportwhich was compiled for free by former candidate for governor, Ken Block.
Block said he's prohibited under his contract from revealingwhat he found.
"We identified waste and fraud in numerous differentareas. I can't talk dollar amounts. That would violate my contract. I can'ttalk about dollars," Block said.
Chafee said there's fraud, and he will speak with hisdepartment directors about how to reduce it.
