Wade Boggs visits McCoy Stadium for ‘Shave or Not Shave’ campaign
PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WJAR) —
Baseball Hall of Famer Wade Boggs threw out the first pitch at McCoy Stadium Friday night.
But Boggs was at the home of the Pawtucket Red Sox for another very specific reason, as he is an ambassador for the “Shave or Not Shave” campaign.
“Two opposing teams, made up of 9 Minor League Baseball players, all have a common goal: Get Wade Boggs to Shave…or not,” a press release noted. “MILB players are split into Team Shave and Team Not Shave to help get the win.”
The release also noted that the campaign is presented by Van Der Hagen and Beard Guyz to promote men’s grooming in the big league.
Boggs, who played for both the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees, -- and who is sporting quite the bushy beard -- chatted with Sports Team 10’s Frank Carpano ahead of the game. Check out the interview in the video above.
