"I am so proud of the work our news team does on a daily basis, across multiple platforms, to keep Southern New England informed," said Chris Lanni, NBC 10 News Director. "To be recognized by our peers for the work we do for our viewers is a great honor."
"Turnto10.com is the number one television website in the Providence / New Bedford market and we thank our viewers for continuing to trust us as their news source," says Kim Reis, Digital Media & Marketing Director for WJAR. "When news happens, the NBC 10 news team jumps into action, keeping in constant contact with our viewers on-air, online, on mobile devices, through the NBC 10 app and on social media websites like Facebook and Twitter."
The NBC 10 News Team will accept the award on May 18, 2012, at the RTDNA awards dinner in Newton, Massachusetts.
The Edward R. Murrow Award was established in 1971 by the RTDNA to recognize outstanding achievements in electronic journalism. Submissions are judged by a panel of professional journalists both regionally and nationally. Edward R. Murrow was an American broadcast journalist who was best known for his honesty and integrity in delivering the news. Murrow first had a series of radio news broadcasts during World War II and later pioneered television news broadcasting in the 1950s.
