CRANSTON, R.I. —
NBC 10, the most watched television news station in Southern New England, has won the regional Edward R. Murrow Award for Overall Excellence in a small market. The awards recognize television, radio, and online news organizations worldwide for producing the best in electronic journalism. Since 2008, NBC 10 has won ten regional Edward R. Murrow Awards and three national Murrow Awards for Overall Excellence, Breaking News and Website.
"It is an incredible honor to be recognized by The Radio Television Digital News Association with this prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award," said Chris Lanni, News Director. "We are proud to be recognized as the station that provides the highest level of news excellence in the market, and work hard to ensure that more Southern New Englanders choose NBC 10 for the most comprehensive news content and coverage."
The Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) awarded 673 regional Murrow Awards in categories including: Overall Excellence, Breaking News, Investigative Reporting and Website. A full list of winners can be found at the RTDNA's website: www.rtdna.org.

NBC 10 won the small market television category for Overall Excellence for its coverage throughout 2014, including the station's continuing coverage of the investigation into Former Speaker of the House Gordon Fox; the I-Team's stories on 'Beachgate,' the practice of questionable concession stand contracts; the local school administer who had a degree from an unaccredited online university; expanded coverage hosting debates and covering the local elections in Decision 2014; Team 10 coverage of the President's visit to RI and Chief Meteorologist Mark Searles' commitment to providing up-to-date and accurate forecasts for Southern New England during severe weather.
