Tuesday's Child: Alexis gives horseback riding a try
EAST GREENWICH, R.I. (WJAR) —
The horses are watching, ears perked up. Visitors have arrived at the McLaughlin's Faith Hill Farm in East Greenwich, and 15-year-old Alexis is excited.
"I just love animals because at my house we have six cats," Alexis said.
Under the watchful eye of instructor Pam Maloof, Alexis learns the importance of good posture and keeping her heels down.
"I feel lopsided, that's for sure. It also feels like you're on a roller-coaster," Alexis said.
It's always more fun to ride with a friend, so I'm invited to hop on Charlie, a quarter horse.
Through no fault of her own, Alexis has spent most of her life in state care. She can't change what happened to her in the past, but she is boldly going into the future.
She is focused on her goal of adoption.
"I'm just looking for a family who likes to cuddle and give hugs," Alexis said.
