Tuesday's Child: Brothers Braylon and DaJuan adopted together
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WJAR) —
Braylon and DaJuan explore Fargnoli Park off Smith Street with their usual unfettered enthusiasm for everything, especially each other.
They were just babies when they first went into the foster care system. Fortunately for them, foster parents Mary and Michael Hartley took them in to provide a safe place while their biological family worked on reunification.
The one thing that has been constant in the brothers' lives is each other. They have never lived apart.
When they unexpectedly became available for adoption, the Hartleys knew what they had to do. They stepped right up adopted two handsome sons.
"It was nice to love them, get to know them and make them part of our family," Mary said.
They encourage others to explore fostering and adoption because this experience has enriched their lives.
"It's been great. The best feeling in the world," Michael said.
Braylon is now 2, and DaJuan is now 3. And they're thriving.
Mary and Michael are embracing parenthood. They, along with their extended family, are giving their sons the childhood they deserve.
"We went to New Hampshire to Storyland and Santa's Village, and that was fantastic," Michael said.
Setting a good example for Braylon and DaJuan so that they'll someday grow up to be good parents, too.
