Brothers and sisters living in foster care are having the time of their lives just being together at the Adoption Rhode Island summer camp at Camp Aldersgate.

Brothers Demetrus, Ethan and Vincent are cherishing their time together. The rest of the year, the biological brothers are living separately in the foster care system.

It's the first overnight sibling summer camp exclusively for foster children.

Watching them has moved pediatrician Amy Goldberg, a camp volunteer.

"Putting aside all of the terrible things that have happened to them, they're just sort of having fun together," Goldberg said.

Of course, the boys love the usual camp activities. But what they really like the most is something that most of us take for granted -- living under the same roof if only for a couple of days playing cards, talking, just being together.

"Being able to wake up and see them smile. Makes me feel warm inside," Goldberg said.

To help make up for all of the family celebrations they've missed, the camp threw a big birthday party for everybody.

"Demetrus gave me books because I love to read and gave me "Star Wars." I'm a big "Star Wars" fan. And Ethan gave me a football, Nerf football," Vincent said.

"Demetrus wrote this down, 'You are the best brother in the world,' and he put the world right there," Vincent said.

Making childhood memories that will last a lifetime.

The number for Adoption Rhode Island is 401-865-6000.
