Storm Team 10: Extreme wind, cold coming Thursday night
A few hours of extremely powerful wind will blast across our area Thursday night as an Arctic Cold Front passes through.
There is some concern over the intensity of this wind as our forecast guidance is showing the potential for west wind gusts near 60mph from late Thursday evening through pre-dawn Friday.
This strength of wind certainly could bring down small trees and tree limbs causing localized power outages.
The core of the arctic cold settles in Friday morning with wind chill values as low as -10 to -20 degrees...fortunately the wind will drop off by Friday afternoon but it will still be a very cold day with high temps reaching only near 20 degrees.
We'll keep you updated on the severity of this blast of bitterly cold air online and of course on NBC 10 News.
