Storm Team 10: Jose will spin off New England coast
Tropical Storm Jose lies about 150 miles off Nantucket Thursday and is going to ping pong around George's Bank for the next few days.
Blocked by a two areas of high pressure, the 982mb (centralized pressure) storm will stall and spin off the southeastern coast of southern New England through Saturday morning.
As the timeline has been extended, and the system will retrograde and move west slightly, gusty conditions will continue. In fact, peak wind gusts will be the strongest thus far. Starting Thursday afternoon through Friday morning, coastal RI will experience 45+mph gusts with 50-60mph for Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard, and Nantucket.
Although we won't likely see too much heavy rain we WILL have rain showers in the area through Friday night and perhaps even into Saturday (especially for south coastal areas.
The ocean will remain angry through the end of the week...likely looking like this through Friday evening...
Dramatic scenes which very well MAY play out again NEXT week as "Maria" follows a similar path over the ocean to our south...
While exact effects cannot be pinpointed at this early time...it is likely that, at the very least, we will see more high surf & waves...stay tuned!
