StormTeam10: March's last weekend looks unsettled
We are literally RIGHT on the edge for this last weekend in March ...the edge of a boundary separating us from some very mild air, and the cloudy, cool air mass we currently have in place...take a look at Friday's high temps...70s & low 80s to our west!
We WON'T see those 80s, 70s or even 60s moving into our area this weekend...some of us MAY sneak into the lower 50s around noon Saturday, especially southern RI & CT, while inland areas stay a bit cooler as the wind shifts into the northeast by noon Saturday and stays that way into Sunday.
With a week to go in the month, this March is currently tied for the 9th coldest March on record, still featuring an average temperature COLDER than both January & February!
One thing to keep an eye this weekend is the forecast for Sunday night into early Monday morning as some rain moves back into the area. Initially it MAY be cold enough across parts of northern RI & interior Massachusetts for a bit of freezing rain resulting in icy roadways.
As you can see from the graphic above from the National Weather Service, central & western Massachusetts have the best chance of seeing some of this ice but keep an eye on our forecast from Kelly & R.J. this weekend for an update!
Thanks for reading...Mark
