StormTeam10: Rain Develops Friday
A slow developing storm system will influence our weather over the next several days. The heaviest rain from this storm will fall Friday afternoon into early Saturday BUT additional showers are likely at times through the weekend. A cool and unsettled weather pattern will set up over the northeast through the middle of next week.
Here's the breakdown of the rain on Friday:
Most of the morning commute looks dry although a few light showers are possible, the steadier rain will develop after 10am
- The afternoon will feature heavier showers so the evening commute will likely be slower than usual
- A thunderstorm is even possible Friday night as a warm front lifts north along the southern coastline. Obviously this will bring the potential for locally heavy rain at times
Most forecast guidance is suggesting the potential for a widespread 1-2" of rain from this system by early Saturday...
While I don't expect a widespread rainfall Saturday I do think we will have a some showers in the morning, possibly through 9am or so. The afternoon may bring some additional showers as this storm spins to our north.
Also a few widely scattered showers are possible Sunday afternoon...again not a total washout but spotty afternoon showers are a possibility in this weather scenario.
This is not uncommon to see this type of slow moving low pressure in the early spring months but that certainly doesn't come as much consolation to those of us with outdoor plans this weekend or even into next week...cooler than average temperatures are likely through most of next week....at least it's only EARLY May and we have so much more spring ahead of us!
